It’s back! 2000 Days back by popular demand!
A fascinating truly local tale telling of when, in 1939, an entire school was evacuated to Frome by Operation Pied Piper.
On arrival, they took over recently vacated Nissen Huts left by Frome Grammar School. Once here and settled, the school would stay for two thousand days. We join the story of those school children from almost 85 years ago, through comic mishaps, badly matched billets and flirtation with danger.
As the war closes in and the young characters are forced to confront it head on, with an emotional price to pay.
6th & 7th October at The Merlin Theatre in Frome.

After our production of the Last Matron we wanted to make a contribution to Frome’s Local History Festival, and in particular, working with young people to create the piece. Last year the book, ‘The Coopers’ Company’s School in Frome 1939-45’, became available as a digital resource, making research and sharing of ideas around the stories a lot easier. Using the resource, we decided to create a dramatic piece with a cast of 13-18 year olds…. Read more
Comedy of Error – Shakespeare Schools Festival
04/11/2022
A journey that began last May with a group of young people between the ages of 7 – 16 ended last night in the best possible way with a vibrant, hilarious, polished performance of Comedy of Errors at the Merlin theatre.
Comments from audience
“Young lad on our row was in stitches with every moment of physical comedy.” – John
“It was wonderful to see the actors taking the acclaim at the end in full character and then sit down and become children again with the widest beams on their faces”. – Steve
“Fantastic performance that we really enjoyed – energetic, clear, fluid, funny and a colourful telling of a great story!” – Maria
Comments from SSF
“A brilliant, brilliant performance! They totally nailed it. I especially loved the human missile!” –
Beth
From our point of view it was wonderful to see a group who began partly as strangers become team members and friends connected and motivated by the same purpose. We saw the magic of live theatre last night in which every moment of the performance felt like it was happening for the first time with all the actors raising their game. Moments that will stay with these young people for the rest of their lives as glowing moments of pride, achievement and togetherness. Who knows where it will lead?
The wonderful journey goes on…
We have started creating a few online resources whilst we are in lockdown to provide some fun filled activities whilst they are at home.
Welcome to Dramakarma. We are based in Frome and provide drama classes for kids aged 7 – 16 in and around the the town, including Trowbridge, Warminster and Bath.
We have a passion for drama and performance and through our classes we aim to provide a safe space where children can just be themsleves and set their inhibitions worries aside. Well being is at the centre of everything that we do.
We hope to inspire you by creating and exploring imaginary worlds, having fun and laughing out loud. We will create a theatre space in which everyone is welcome to share their own slant on things, sometimes the more bizarre the better. We aim to have serious fun, respect those serious moments when they come along, but remember not to take ourselves too seriously. We are dedicated towards feeling good through Drama between ourselves and in the community.
